IVECO Stralis NP named Sustainable Truck of the Year 2019

The IVECO Stralis Natural Power 460 has been named Sustainable Truck of the Year 2019. Winning at the Ecomondo awards, North East Truck and Van takes a look at the award-winning vehicle.

Adding to the previous awards including the IVECO Daily Blue winning the in the van section in 2017, the IVECO Stralis NP confirms IVECO’s position as a leading in the post diesel era. This was highlighted at the Hannover trade fair when IVECO was the first manufacturer with a 100% diesel-free display.

Presenting the award, Maurizio Cervetto, Vado e Torno Chief Editor commented: “As the big brother of the Stralis NP 400, this vehicle has not only taken performance to the level required to replace diesel on any mission, but has also raised the bar on comfort, safety and sustainability.”

Fitted with a Cursor 13 NP engine that has been designed to perform on even the most demanding journeys, it has two patents that cover the anti-detonation control system and airflow system. Removing the previous range limitations of previous gas vehicles, the IVECO Stralis NP has fuel autonomy of 1600km when the double LNG tanks are filled.

Preparing for the future

Benefit from up to 9% lower Total Cost of Ownership compared to a traditional diesel option. This is due to the lower cost of natural gas, low maintenance costs and lower fuel consumption. Maintenance intervals are increased to 90,000km which is the longest for a single-fuel vehicle in the industry.
