North East Truck & Van, as it is known today, was originally formed
in 1969 by three like-minded entrepreneurs, and initially operated as an
independent service workshop.

Its journey on the road to becoming one of the UK's premiere commercial
vehicle distributors formally began in 1973 when the company was awarded the
DAF Truck franchise for Teesside.
The success NETV achieved in vehicle sales resulted in additional territory
being awarded to the company by DAF, and by 1982 NETV operated the franchise
from Teesside, Tyneside and Cumbria. In 1985, one of the founding partners
exchanged his shareholding in NETV for 100 per cent ownership of the Carlisle
business.
When DAF took over Leyland Trucks in 1987, NETV (or as it was then known,
North East DAF Trucks) was granted the Leyland DAF franchise for the whole of
the North East territory. This led to a period of accelerated growth for the
company in terms of sales volumes, employee numbers and investment.
For both DAF and Leyland DAF, NETV was one of the most successful dealers in
the UK, achieving well above national average sales penetration in all market
sectors.
In March 1990, NETV was accredited to the high standards set out in BS EN
ISO 9002, becoming the first motor dealer in the UK to achieve such
recognition.
The receivership of Leyland DAF in 1993 resulted in a rapid change of
franchise and Iveco Ford Truck was quick to realise the potential of having
NETV as a member of its network.
This move presented a major challenge for the company, and despite the
change in marque, NETV's impressive history in providing unrivalled levels of
customer satisfaction meant that customers remained loyal and the sales success
achieved with DAF and Leyland DAF was repeated with Iveco Ford.
NETV believes in adding value to its customers' business operations, and as
such over the past 30+ years, the company has been steadily increasing the
range of products and services it offers to its customers. This process has
enabled NETV to grow, whilst bringing more of the variables involved in both
the vehicle supply chain and customer satisfaction under its direct control.
NETV continues to be a privately owned limited liability company, and whilst
the shareholders have changed over the years, the active involvement of senior
management in the ownership of the company is considered to be fundamental to
its customer-orientated culture. The current shareholders are Bill Beadnell
(one of the original founders), and Sandy McDonald.
